Benji Eisen spoke well of this show not that long ago, and I certainly
agree with his kind words about it.  I had no trouble keeping both
sets of this show around!  This YEM isn't AMAZING or anything, but is
pleasant to hear in the context of this great all-around gig.  Very
nice quality DAUDs should be circulating (Benji, I think I may have
you to thank for this DAUD, actually! thank you!).

Opening standard.  Fine pre-Nirvana section, but nothing exceptionally
beautiful, imo.  "Nirvana" at 3:27.  Good.  Mike's solo section is
extremely Odd-sounding -- he appears to play double-stops (two notes
at one pluck) in an erie manner.  Trey's first shot at the Note is hit
well, and jammed modestly around (not that great, though).  Second
shot at The Note at 6:07 is sustained well... Not that thrilling an
opening segment really, though, imo.

"Boy" at 6:40 after a strong scream from Trey.  BMGS/WUDMTF segment is
funky as usual, and well-played (Trey employs some effects..).  Fish
is unusually strong, and Page's accompaniment is also great.
Trampolines segment at 8:43, and Page starts soloing (with Fish in
accompaniment.. signals from Mike.. the trampolines are employed).
Nice playing from Page.. Trey moves to the percussion kit for awhile
around 10 mins or so, and Mike and Page lightly groove.

At 10:45 the jam segment kicks in.  Trey gets back on the 'doc and
starts soloing melodiously, in the lower octaves, searching for a
theme, noodling around.  Very quiet playing around 11:30, nothing very
dramatic.  Fish actually drops out completely at 11:40.  So does
Page.  Trey is noodling alone (and Mike occasionally lets loose with a
note).  At 12:20 Trey scats a little along with his solo, and Fish and
Page come back in (Page with some strong Oye Como Va chords).  At
12:53 Trey quotes Oye Como Va strongly, before soloing in Typically
Kind YEM fashion, steadily climbing the 'doc's octaves.  Solid closing
jamming around 14 minutes, with some nice repetitive licks from Trey.
Nice dragged out close, with some POWERFUL drumming from Fish!!!

Bass and Drums at 15:55, basically.  Trey sustains out some crap on
his 'doc, which pervades the opening of this B&D segment.  Mike is
happily tearing it up on HIS 'doc -- great soloing!  And excellent
accompaniment from Fish, too, who is **really** hot in this YEM, in my
opinion.  Great stuff from Mike in here.. very melodious, fiery
soloing!!!!

Closing WUDMTF segment at 17:26.  Fish starts vocal jamming
immediately, and the others kick in within 20 seconds as usual.  Lots
of erie harmonizing and borderline-shouting in this vocal jam..
otherwise, not much to say.  Total time 21:26.

Typically awesome "B" YEM, imo, although Fishman deserves high praise
for giving it That Extra Special Something..

two cents

p.s.  Go see "Austin Powers" as soon as possible.  Fucking hysterical
(assuming you enjoy watching '60's "fashion" and music videos get
heavily mocked, not to mention '60's James Bond movies..).  Oh, yeah.
If you have less than 50 phish tapes, and want a fall 1996 show (for
blanks.postage.. cost), email me a thoughtful, intelligent and
considerate message on why you want [Name of Show], and I'll probably
dub it for you.  I may dub you more shows the more thoughtful your
response.
