7/30/99 Field of Heaven 7:00 pm

500-600 ppl 1st set (rough estimate)
1000 ppl 2nd set " "

Well, I'm not gonna describe what the Field of Heaven looked like
because words simply cannot describe the peaceful and serene
atmosphere. I can understand why this stage was called the "Field of
Heaven."

1st set
Highlights of this set begin with Funky Bitch, which was pretty damn
funky. Page page page page page the whole set had this grin on his
face and it was his solo in Funky Bitch that made him shine. Not only
was the solo extended but it was probably the hardest I've seen Page
Jam in this tune...and afterwards, of course Trey had to answer with a
monstrous musical soliloquy that had the 100's of phans dancin there
asses off. Ghost was just pure fatness and segued into a spacy jam
that I can't even exactly remember but I do remember saying to myself
and my bud, Blane, what is going on? and no I was not under the
influence of hallucinogens this evening>it then flowed into an
energetic set closer which you all know as
Axilla I.

2nd Set

My Soul ripped some fat funky blues jams as usual. Reba was good but
not as tight as it could've been. The main highlight of course was Syd
Barett's "Bike" which was requested by a westerner I'm assuming. It
followed by Fishman explaining that he did not have his vacuum with
him. Then a a blond-haired girl standing front row center shouted
"Show us some leg" where Fishman then proceeded to lift up his ever so
popular Henrietta dress all the way up to his thigh. We all got a kick
out of this but most of all, Fishman's guitar solo during bike. HE
played a total of 4 notes but it actually sounded quite good at times.
Afterwards, Trey decided to extend they HYhu jam as Fishman bowed to
practically each section of the crowd, ran around the stage in circles,
and continued to bow until HYhu ended. What a humerous evening it was!
