Phish are so soary aboat this. I feel bad for those Canadian phans (isn't the legendary .netter @andrewrose Canadian?) who have been waiting more than a decade for Phish to play Toronto again. At least it's been promptly rescheduled...

I can only imagine that this was a very difficult decision - I remember there was a Radiohead show in Northern VA that had to be cancelled because it rained so much that the stage was actually sinking into the earth. Bands with the kinds of followings Phish and Radiohead have are quite cognizant of how much effort their fans put into going to their shows. Hence the quick rescheduling.

I am with everybody else, though, that July 22 is going to be a goddamn rager and a half.

I expect the obligatory Drowned to be nasty.

Must be karma for them having mkdevo's youtube station terminated!! Why in god's name would Phish now suddenly have a problem with people posting videos from their shows?? I'm sorry for all TO fans, but I'm pretty pissed at my favorite band right now!!

Heart goes out to everyone directly impacted by this postponement. I am sure it was a terribly upsetting decision for the band.

I certainly hope the July 22 show is webcast, because I would go if I could. Chances are good that it will be among the best shows of the tour.

I doubt the Trey and the guys even know about what happened to Mkdevo's channel but I do share in you disappointment. MK's channel was unbelievable.

That Radiohead show in 2008 in VA wasn't cancelled. It was a torrential down pour and nearly half the people couldn't get to the venue because of flooding on the roads so they offered refunds to those people. Incredible show and environment, the lawn at Nissan Pav was a water slide but those who made it were loving it. @n00b100 said:

Save your $20 parking stubs for the main lot if you can make the 22nd. The parking attendants told me they will honor stubs from tonight.

I'd like to second this... I heard the same thing from a parking attendant as well.

Disappointed ! I feel really bad for the people who can only see one show this summer and who may not be able to attend the rescheduled date, others and myself included. From vacations days used and all the money that was spent yesterday. It's a very terrible feeling this morning.

Any idea how to get refunds? I ordered tickets through Phish's website and can't attend the make up date. I couldn't find any info other than "refunds available at point of purchase."

I am 2 for 2 in concerts in Toronto. Radiohead last year was cancelled after the stage collapsed and now this!! I am going to the make up show on the 22nd then never going to Toronto for another show ever again. Such a waste of time and money

I'm right there with you. From Buffalo, this was the only show I could see, and the 22nd is a no-go. A friend of mine paid almost $200 to have an expedited passport renewal so they could get up to the show! I don't understand why they didn't just announce the postponement earlier in the day when they knew there was a good chance that the concert would not happen.

Just hope the make up show, being the 4th show in 4 nights, end if the first leg, second time in town in two weeks, low attendance, isn't a 'token' show. Hope they bring the heat.

A big warm round of applause to the ASSHOLE at the border who insisted he smelled weed in my car, and proceeded to detain us for almost an HOUR while a platoon of border cops tore my car apart looking for non-existent drugs. I drained my savings for this trip, and its not likely I'll have the funds to do it again in two weeks.

I saw no danger to public safety. Some traffic lights were out but drivers treated them like stop signs as we made our way to where we needed to be (the lot for us, work or home for others I'm sure). It was a normal day in the city, bars were open and a mass of people milled about. This explanation just doesn't click in with me.

I only had to travel from Buffalo but the people who drove from NJ or Maryland wasted precious gas money and a great deal of patience I'd imagine on a phantom show. Just disappointing and a logistical nightmare...you know what I'm going to choose to believe it was all just a bad dream. The show was always scheduled for the 22nd

I imagine he's talking about the show at Bull Run back in the early 2000's. I went to that show too and it was cancelled while we were still in the parking lot. It was a pretty tremendous storm and the stage was sinking. Ruined my only chance ever to see the Beta Band, although I did get to see Radiohead a couple of years later at Merriweather.

No word from Phish Tickets on a refund for my partner's ticket- she can't make the show. Refunds at "point of purchase" were said to be possible - and TM apparently has been on its game - but Phish Tickets is MIA and has not replied to my email. This never would have happened if Phish were still running their own organization.

@uctweezer yes I am. Still kind of dont believe if happened but you gotta just roll with it and hope that the 22nd is something special. Having a show being postponed is crazy enough, but the fact that it was also the band's first show in Canada in 13 years makes it even crazier. I'm pretty impressed with how all the Canadian fans took it though. There was a big sense of reunion leading up to the gig. I was seeing people I hadn't seen since 2003, since 1999... And then after the news it was almost one of those funerals where everyone is being upbeat about bad news. I just feel really bad for people who made a long trek and spent lots of money and can't make the make up show. One of my best friends who Ive been since shows with since Clifford Ball got busted in the US in 2004 and hasnt yet seen a 3.0 show. He flew from Winnipeg for the show. Though thats nothing compared to the dude who hadnt seen them since 95 and flew in from HONG KONG. Anyway.

It was an outdoor event, was it not? Is there not always the remote possibility that a cancellation or postponement will happen when it is out-of-doors?

Think if you drained your savings to cross an international border during an extreme weather event in the hopes of seeing a show.....
I empathize for sure, but you're rolling the dice on that. Also, we never know who made the final call on it. The band may have had little to say about the decision, it may have been made for them.

I'd like to weigh in on this event/postponement. I think I know what happened based on reading these comments, I'd like to divulge some info that might make people feel a little better...maybe...

We got in town Sunday, everything was pretty good in the city. Rains had been starting to get heavy over the previous few days but nothing like Monday afternoon. It was way too hot for the area, very unseasonable, and the heat and humidity spawned monster thunderstorm cells that were like waves pouring over the city. Our hotel was only 2 blocks from Front st., where the ground slopes down towards the lake and where the subway system is "above ground" if that makes sense (it goes under the city from there, towards the north). sorta like that. Anyway, Toronto got all of its July monthly average in 2 hours Monday from about 4pm-6pm. It was a total soaker. Lots of power outages all over, in the end 300,000 people without power. We wanted to go to dinner at a sick restaurant on the 54th floor of a high rise and the whole building lost power, people stuck in elevators, stuck in the restaurant, etc. Cars completely underwater, up to or past the roof underwater. A whole train leaving town with people who work in the city was stuck and they were stuck inside for 7 HOURS before getting rescued. Over all, the city was a mess.

We all had no idea the entire Ontario Place complex/island was out of power before getting there. Not only that but almost the whole lake front was out of power, over a dozen traffic lights completely out, etc. We were in line just 3 people behind the gate and the door didn't open at 6pm like scheduled. The gate guy said he had no idea, the event controllers tell them when to open the gates. It was a little odd, but the more we looked around, it seemed like something was off. Then about 6:10 a lot of cops came out towards the gate, inside. We thought, "wow, serious bag/body searches going to happen, they don't want contraband inside." We didn't care we had nothing but tickets and love to bring Then about 6:20 an event staffer made an announcement to the gate next to us, gate guy said to be quiet (he was really nice) and listen cuz it sounded important. then the dude came to us and said it was postponed till the 22nd due to the power being out. The power had been out all day. The cops must have been there to divert any averse reaction: there was none.

So here's the deal. No conspiracy, no secret plans, nothing. It was all due to power being out. The city was on roving blackouts since the night before and no one but the power company knew what was going to be turned off. If it was at the Air Canada Centre it would've happened, but on the water front, it was a no go. I heard they tried to get truck-sized generators in even, but didn't work. The band didn't get to sound check, they had no power to set up anything. The band and staff there worked past door time to see if they could pull off the show. The ticket box couldn't even print off tickets for will call, that's how "off" the power was. And, it didn't even come back on the day after, we were in Toronto till Thursday morning and still the waterfront was down, starting to come back, but mostly down.

We drove up for a big trip from South Carolina for anniversary celebration and planned the trip around the Phish show (my 30th and my wife's 24th shows). Since seeing the boys since 1995 I've never had a cancelled show, such a heart breaker. We had other things to do and Phish was only 1 night of our trip, but what a big night it was going to be!!!!!!! I can't imagine how sad Trey was that he couldn't play there again, sounded like he loved the place in 2000. Thank god for ATL at least, and the only southeast action all tour, should be a scorcher y'all
